Essex Archaeology and History (the Society's Transactions renamed in 1972) has been produced by the Society since its inception in 1852 and are a major scholarly contribution to the study of county archaeology and history. Essex Archaeology and History are the first port of call for anyone researching the past of Essex with over 70 volumes completed to date.
Essex Archaeology and History features a variety of archaeological fieldwork reports and the results of historical research. All are peer reviewed to ensure that consistently high standards are maintained.
Essex Archaeology and History is produced annually. Volumes for period from 1887 to 2014 are available as downloadable PDF files. Volumes 31 to 36 (2000-05) are not currently available and are in the process of being digitised. Volumes for 2015 to 2019 are available free to members only or those who wish to join the Society.
